Decorative Street Globes - Overview

Decorative glass street lighting globes have been a core product offering since the inception of Ray-Lite. We are proud that we have provided many of the original designs contributing to the historic ornamental and architectural integrity of down town communities, inner city streets, college campuses, and quant residential areas across the county and in some cases internationally.

Glass decorative street lighting globes are used for several purposes, but most importantly they are designed to maximize long-term quality illumination. Glass is not susceptible to degradation or yellowing, therefore it maintains the designed levels of illumination required by IES standards for the long-term, reducing the need for globe replacement by at least 80 percent.

Additionally, glass is non porous which limits dirt depreciation (self cleaning).

Polycarbonate/Acrylic Globes

The polycarbonate and acrylic decorative globe options are similar to many of the Ray-Lite original designs created in the 1930’s and offer very affordable alternatives to glass.

Polycarbonate Characteristics:
  • Superior formulated plastic material for extreme requirements.
  • UV Stabilized to ensure a long life.
  • A high continuous working temperature up to 257 degrees Fahrenheit (125 degrees Celsius) even under extreme environmental conditions and allows the installation of lamps high wattages.
  • High impact resistance and durability remain even at subzero temperatures (-40 degrees Celsius)
Acrylic Characteristics:
  • Material highly resistant to weathering and aging.
  • Exceptional brilliance, which doesn’t diminish after prolonged use due to optimal surface strength.
  • Suitable for modern light sources where the maximum working temperature does not exceed 194 degrees Fahrenheit.
